San Francisco View Home
This project was a full remodel of a 1938 7,700-square-foot house. The client, a family with three children, wanted a comfortable home that embraced the traditions of the home and optimized their views, which span from the Golden Gate Bridge to the North Bay and Downtown San Francisco.
The remodel involved significant excavation and a structural retrofit with 26 piers placed up to 35’ below the home. We worked in collaboration with Gast Architects and Matarozzi Pelsinger Builder to incorporate an additional full ground floor to accommodate the family den and kitchenette, and had rebuilt an elevator to help the family navigate the home’s five stories in addition to the magnificent spiral staircase. In addition to these major structural changes, exterior railings were redesigned and reengineered to comply with building codes.
The remodel also included renovations of all bathrooms and the addition of a skylight by installing a light tunnel at top of the central spiral staircase. We designed custom interior furnishings and window treatments for each room, and incorporated antiques and other accessories throughout the home.
